Lois J. Engelbrecht, PhD (she/her) in social work. Born and grew up in Tamilnadu, India, daughter of Christian missionaries. Returned to Asia following marriage and birth of 2 children with husband employed by International Schools in Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, China, Saudi Arabia, and Ghana. Lois worked with grassroots social workers to help set up programs and organizations that focus on the sexual abuse of children in India, Philippines, Ghana, Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia. Her research and materials for parents and children have been translated into several languages. At present most of her time is spent with Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse that she founded in 1994 and with 2 agencies in India (Tulir and Arpan).
