Shireen Sokar

Dr. Shireen Sokar is a social work researcher whose work examines the psychosocial processes that shape resilience, subjective well-being, and psychological adaptation following exposure to interpersonal violence, political conflict, and other forms of adversity. Drawing on developmental, ecological, and strengths-based perspectives, she investigates how individual, family, community, and environmental resources contribute to positive developmental and mental health outcomes among children, adolescents, families, and helping professionals across culturally diverse settings. Her work aims to advance culturally grounded resilience research while informing interventions, professional training, and social policies that promote well-being in conflict-affected and marginalized communities.
