Kathryn Howell

Kathryn Howell, Ph.D., (she/her) is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a licensed psychologist in Wisconsin. Dr. Howell’s program of research centers on the health and well-being of children and families. She assesses individual, relational, and contextual factors that enhance resilience or reduce psychopathology following exposure to traumatic events during childhood. Dr. Howell has developed a research specialization in strengths-based interventions to promote wellbeing in children and families experiencing trauma. She is the author or co-author of more than 140 publications, and she was recently elected a Fellow to APA.
