Michael Edwards

Michael Edwards is Chief Assistant District Attorney and Director of Policy, Programs and Personnel in the Eastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. He joined the office in January 2021 with District Attorney Shalena Jones. He is a former Circuit Public Defender, establishing Savannah’s first public defender office and overseeing it 11 years. He spent 3 years teaching and researching law and criminology at Sheffield Hallam University’s Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice in England. He is a member of Savannah’s CARES, ARCS and REAL taskforces, Deep Center’s Adult Policy team, Fair and Just Prosecution, and Board co-chair of Bike Walk Savannah.
